Live Weight: 1,000 lbs

Hanging (Carcass) Weight: ~600 lbs

  • After the head, hide, blood, and guts are removed, you're left with about 60% of the live weight.

Half Beef Hanging Weight: ~300 lbs

  • This is the amount used to calculate the cost of a half.

Final Packaged (Take-Home) Meat: ~200–220 lbs

  • After bones, excess fat, and trimming during processing.
